Background

Hector was born in Duskwood 39 years ago. He became an early orphan when his parents perished in a forest fire during a particularly dry season, an inferno which also killed most of his relatives. He was raised by his only surviving uncle to be a woodsman, where his physical strength and endurance were advantageous. Tragedy struck again when his uncle and fellow woodsmen were murdered by a band of ravaging orcs and goblins. Hector was 15 years old and there was nothing left for him in Duskwood anymore. On a rainy night, after burying his uncle and the rest of his dead friends, young Hector decided to leave. He has been wandering across the region ever since, looking for odd jobs and drifting where his skills as a man of the forest would take him.

There is an apparent aura of gloom around Hector. He hardly smiles and every night he has nightmares about his lost family, terrible visions in which he sees them burning and becoming tiny black ashes in the roaring flames. He is a restless soul whose main focus in life is simply to keep moving. He is currently staying in Cauldron, where he has just finished clearing a new road for one of the local plantation owners.
